Southampton startup Maru Search & Consultancy has hired its first senior recruiter within the first six months of trading.

Maru was founded by expert resourcer Hannah Waddington and new team member Lucy Garrett represents the growth in the company’s capability and vision since the business was started late in 2020.

Lucy Garrettwho has held sales roles in various sectors, and who worked at recruitment giant Sanderson’s Southampton office, joins Maru as the business expands and launches a new service.

Lucy, who lives in Southampton, said: “Right now, the jobs market needs serious solutions that get to the heart of putting the right people in the right positions.

“Maru’s philosophy that every hire is a chance to make your business better strikes at the heart of this with a long-term mission to change the recruitment model and make it fairer and easier for clients.

“I’m delighted to be joining Maru at this stage in its development and look forward to doing great things.”

Maru originally launched as a solely HR recruitment business but has now already expanded into business change resourcing at executive level.

As part of the development of the company, Hannah has also created a new product called Inplacement which is set to change the face of onboarding for SME to corporate clients.

Hannah said: “We are on a mission to make sure that the future of recruitment is based in the real world – not just sales talk where recruiters often over promise and under deliver.

“Lucy comes with a huge level of integrity and drive and I am thrilled she is joining us now as we emerge into recovery and support progressive businesses grow at speed and with maximum efficiency.”

Lucy lives in Southampton with her family and two dogs.
